"Jelly Doughnut", like most of my work, is an exercise in looking. Made during time in Berlin, Jelly Doughnut is a collection of images that detail the subtle nuances of place. Whilst the images themselves do not immediately give a sense of locale, the title is meant as a slight tongue in cheek reference to the city, as a Berliner translates literally as jelly doughnut. These images, all made on a mobile phone, reflect the immediacy and intimacy of traveling through a new city, always looking.  

In Sickness & No Wealth  was  created over a period of six months, when my health was suffering and days outdoors were few and far between. During this time I was observing the same familiar spaces constantly with a craving for something extraordinary.  These images are a collection of the mundane viewpoints that I saw at a time where my eyes were desperate something more; a time when color, texture and form became elevated.   It is the culmination of months of working with and understanding a new medium - the mobile phone camera. A considered and thoughtful documentation of moments - it is a body of work that has been created at a time where I found myself as a maker, and as a person, limited in mobility and energy. The resulting images are a celebration of what is to be found within the confines of seemingly mundane and ordinary situations.
